Large Red Marble Restoration

Large Red Marble Restoration

A challenging red marble resoration project in a manor house near Northamptonshire.

The large heavy sections of marble were broken in many places and were extremely heavy making it almost impossible to be lifted by two men.

Both the legs of the fireplace were broken into 12 different pieces... luckily all pieces were present when fixed together. The arched back panel was cracked and broken in three places with all of the black marble returns broken off.

The shelf was made of two flat plates that had separated due to the weight so a new metal bar had to be set into the underneath section before fixing and clamping both plates together which
enabled us to lift it safely.

The pictures show the complexity of this job, but the finished product was well worth the effort. Completed with a good polish, we managed to get a really nice traditional lustre finish.

After only a few weeks the original Antique Rouge Marble fireplace surround had been transformed, restored and finished looking splendid.

And the best part... One very happy customer.

Andrew’s builders made a fantastic job of the installation after he deciding to have a large
multi-fuel stove fitted to heat the large reception Hall of his Manor House.
